Dad worked his way up from buck private to retire as a major in the U.S. Army. Triple war vet, Purple Heart decorated. Although his flying lessons were cut short by my gramdma(!), he lived vicariously through me, attending my graduation from pilot training in Del Rio, Texas. Unfortunately he passed away as my airline career was just starting, so we never had the chance to fly together. He was there in spirit.
