Brigadier General David A. Sprenkle


Brigadier General David A. Sprenkle is the assistant adjutant general for Air, Colorado Air National Guard. He also serves as the commander, Colorado Air National Guard, Joint Force Headquarters, Colorado National Guard. As the commander, General Sprenkle commands and directs manning, training and employment of Colorado Air National Guard resources, a force of over 1400 officers and airmen.

Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant through the United States Air Force Academy in June of 1975, he served as a civil engineer in the 22nd CES at March Air Force Base, California. He held positions as the housing manager, design engineer, chief of construction management, chief engineer, squadron section commander and Prime BEEF commander. He joined the Colorado Air National Guard in June1980, as a design engineer in the newly established 240th Civil Engineering Flight. In December 1983, he transferred to the 140th Civil Engineering Squadron where he served as the chief engineer and training manager. He returned to the 240th CEF in December 1988, where he held progressively responsible positions as the section leader for programs, engineering, and training. He served as a joint and combined staff officer on major command staffs throughout the Pacific Theater, including Japan and Korea. He then commanded 240th CEF October 2000 through April 2002. He assumed position of Chief of Staff of the Colorado Air National Guard in May 2002, and the Director of Joint Staff, Joint Force Headquarters - Colorado in October, 2003.
