Gregory V. White


Gregory V. White, a dedicated radiologist, loving husband, and devoted father, passed away on June 9, 2023, in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. He was born on January 17, 1953, in Syracuse, New York, and his life was a testament to compassion, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence.

Greg is survived by his wife, Lois Carey of Wolfeboro, NH, brothers Richard Forster (and wife Becky Forster) of Fancy Gap, VA and Kevin White (and wife Carol White) of Charlottesville, VA. Greg was predeceased by his parents, Oliver White and Maxine White of Kensington, NH as well as his brother Lee White of Littleton, NH. Also, surviving are his children and their families: son Steven White (and wife Megan Krajewski) of Brookline, MA, daughter Meredith Allison (and husband Joel Allsison) of Ventura, CA and granddaughter Devin, stepson Ryan Carey of Wolfeboro, NH , and stepdaughter Kyle Carey (and husband Carmine Colejazzi) of Brookfield, VT, and grandson Asher. His family was the center of his universe, and he took immense pride in nurturing their growth, happiness, and success.

Greg's journey through life was marked by significant accomplishments. He pursued his education with unwavering dedication, graduating from the United States Air Force Academy in 1975, earning his M.D. at State University of New York (SUNY), Upstate Medical University in 1979, and completing his residency in diagnostic radiology at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in Lackland AFB, Texas, in 1983.

Following his residency, Greg's career in radiology for the USAF grew. From 1983 to 1986, he served as the Chief of Radiology Services at USAF Hospital Upper Heyford in RAF Upper Heyford, UK. Upon returning to the United States, he assumed the role of Staff Radiologist and Officer at Malcolm Grow USAF Medical Center at Andrews AFB, MD, from 1986 to 1989. Greg proudly served in the United States Air Force for a total of 24 years, with 14 years on active duty from 1975 to 1989 and an additional 10 years in the USAF Reserve and New Hampshire Air National Guard from 1989 to 1999. His military service exemplified his unwavering commitment to his country and his fellow servicemen and women.

Upon entering private practice medicine, Greg served as a staff radiologist at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH from 1989 to 1991. His journey culminated in his role as a diagnostic radiologist at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, NH, where he dedicated nearly three decades of his life to providing exceptional medical care from 1991 to 2020, and served as president of medical staff in 1999. His expertise, precision, and commitment to patient care were widely respected and appreciated. His care and compassion for others was evident in his relationship with his patients and colleagues, in which he encouraged and supported the careers and personal growth of those around him.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Greg found immense joy in life's simple pleasures. He had a passion for sailing, gardening, basketball, and music, and his enthusiasm for these hobbies was contagious, bringing joy to all who had the privilege of joining him in these pursuits. Greg will also be remembered for his devotion to the Boston Red Sox, and also his dry sense of humor.

A memorial service to celebrate Greg's life will be held in his honor at 26 Rust Pond Rd., Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, on May 18, 2024 at 1:00pm EST. Friends and family are invited to join together in remembrance, sharing stories of his remarkable life and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
