Mr. Robert Lewis "Bob" Lyons, age 72, passed away on May 5, 2026, in Spring Branch, Texas. Born on December 27, 1953, in Ulm, Germany, Robert lived a life marked by dedication, service, and an enduring curiosity about the world around him. Robert graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering as a member of Cadet Squadron 30. He went on to earn a Master’s degree from Webster University in 1985. His distinguished military career spanned two decades in the United States Air Force. After completing Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas in 1976, he served as an Aircraft Commander for the C-141 at Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina. He further honed his leadership skills through the Squadron Officer School and Air Command and Staff College in 1984. Later, he served as an Acquisition Officer at Headquarters Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois beginning in 1989. Throughout his career, Robert exemplified commitment and excellence. Beyond his professional achievements, Robert was known for his warm and generous spirit. An Independent Christian with a kind heart, he was deeply valued by those who knew him as a confidant and friend. Neighbors often spoke of his willingness to listen and his genuine care for others. In retirement, Robert embraced a wide array of interests that reflected his inquisitive nature and hands-on approach to life. He was an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy literature and had a passion for experimenting in the kitchen and smoking meats. A true Jack-of-all-trades, he dedicated himself to improving his homestead by installing solar power systems, excavating and maintaining a pond, cultivating plants in his solarium, and feeding neighborhood deer. He also kept a keen eye on current events and politics while actively monitoring and investing in the stock market. His enthusiasm for scientific advancements further underscored his lifelong love of learning. Robert is survived by his beloved wife Tempie Lyons; his daughter Kendra Lyons and her husband Adam Burnett; his brother Charles Lyons and wife Bobbi; and his sister Linda Johnson and husband Darryl. He was predeceased by his parents Leo Lyons and Hildegard Lyons. Robert’s legacy is one of generosity, intellect, and unwavering dedication to both family and community. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May those who mourn find comfort in remembering the remarkable life he led. A Memorial Gathering was held on June 28, 2026, from 06:00 PM to 09:00 PM at the Lyons homestead 1128 Senisa Way. About 75 people gathered to honor Robert, some traveling from Illinois and South Carolina. Many gathered to offer their memories of Robert’s hospitality and generosity.
