Kerry R. Putt


Captain Kerry R. Putt, Class of 1975, was killed in a T-38 aircraft accident near Williams AFB on 8 October 1980. He is survived by his wife, Celeste, 7505 Gillen Road, Colorado Springs Co 80919; and by his parents, Lt. Col. (USAF Ret) and Mrs. Carroll F. Putt, 1109 Dappled Elm Lane, Maitland FL 32751.            

Kerry was a member of the 1st Cadet Squadron while at the Academy and majored in Computer Science. Following pilot training at Williams AFB, Kerry was assigned to the 61st Tactical Fighter Squadron at MacDill AFB and the 480th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Spangdahlem AB, Germany as an F-4 pilot. He was assigned to the 97th Fighter Training Squadron at Williams AFB as a T-38 Instructor Pilot at the time of his death. 

Funeral services were held at the Protestant Cadet Chapel on 14 October 1980 with burial at the Air Force Academy Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Kerry R. Putt Memorial Fund, Association of Graduates, USAF Academy CO 80840.
